Helen Beattie

Ordinary Board Member
Chartered Member of the Faculty of Occupational Hygiene (CMFOH)

I am a Chartered Member of the Faculty of Occupational Hygiene, gained in the height of the pandemic in May 2020.

I joined the Health and Safety Laboratory (HSL, now HSE) in 2009 after training as an occupational hygienist in a consultancy role. I currently work in HSEs newly formed Science Engineering and Analysis (SEA) Division, formally HSE’s Science Division, from the Milton Keynes HSE office.

I have a dual occupational hygiene and respiratory protective equipment (RPE) science and research role, where I support HSE inspectors and policy makers, providing both occupational hygiene services and advice on RPE. I develop and undertake research work to inform future policies in these areas.

I have been a joint BOHS Regional Coordinator in London and the Southeast from 2014 to 2026. and have joined the BOHS board as an Ordinary Board Member in June 2025.
