Chartered Member
Chartered status is internationally recognised and signifies a high level of professional competence and experience, a commitment to continued professional development (CPD) and the BOHS Code of Ethics while remaining relevant and employable. BOHS is the only organisation globally that can offer you Chartered membership as an Occupational Hygienist.
Why join?
Joining as a Chartered Member gives you immediate access to our resources, and demonstrates your support of the British Occupational Hygiene Society’s work to raise awareness of worker health protection.
Benefits of Membership
Being a Chartered Member of the Faculty of Occupational Hygiene provides you with access to a wide variety of regional meetings on a range of topics. You can take advantage of our discounted rates for all BOHS events, including our annual Occupational Hygiene conference.
You will discover an extensive network of professionals to build and exchange expertise and knowledge, including a searchable online membership directory. Technical publications and advice will be at your disposal, including BOHS’ technical magazine ‘Exposure’.
BOHS is offering you full access to the Annals of Work Exposures and Health, our peer-reviewed scientific journal usually worth over £1000, as part of your membership. This includes the full archive and 20% discount on any public health and epidemiology titles published by OUP.
Each year we also offer you access to our Home Office Group Licence for the current version of MDHS 25 and you are eligible to apply to appear in the Directory of Occupational Hygiene Services.
If you are a member of FOH you may be eligible to appear on our Professional Register.
The Register of Occupational Hygiene Professionals is the UK’s regulated professional register of individuals competent to practise Occupational Hygiene and provide you with the necessary advice and expertise to help you protect the health of your workforce. This extra benefit does require payment of a small register fee.
All Chartered Members are authorised to use the following post-nominal: CMFOH.
Retired Membership
If you are retired (full time) and an existing Chartered Member you might be eligible for Retired Member Grade. Retired membership means you no longer have to complete CPD, can use the post-nominal letters MFOH (Ret) and still have access to membership benefits at a reduced cost. Contact the Membership Team for more information.
