Chartered Fellow

Fellowship of the Faculty of Occupational Hygiene is the highest award that the Faculty of Occupational Hygiene can bestow on a practising professional hygienist. This is the ultimate accomplishment which demonstrates your commitment to the profession.

Being a Chartered Fellow of the Faculty of Occupational Hygiene provides you with access to a wide variety of regional meetings on a range of topics. You can take advantage of our discounted rates for all BOHS events, including our annual Occupational Hygiene conference.   

You can keep in touch with your extensive network of professionals to exchange expertise and knowledge, including a searchable online membership directory. Technical publications and advice will be at your disposal, including BOHS’ technical magazine ‘Exposure’.  

You will still receive full access to the Annals of Work Exposures and Health, our peer-reviewed scientific journal usually worth over £1000, as part of your membership. This includes the full archive and 20% discount on any public health and epidemiology titles published by OUP 

You will still be able to access our Home Office Group Licence for the current version of MDHS 25, and you are still eligible to apply to appear in the Directory of Occupational Hygiene Services. 

All Chartered Fellows are authorised to use the following post-nominal: CFFOH. 

Membership Fees

£158  (from 1st July £79). The membership will expire on the 31 December.

You will need to submit an application letter with a CV and contact details for two referees who are already Fellows of the Faculty of Occupational Hygiene to the BOHS Membership Team at membership@bohs.org.

Guidance for Fellowship Applicants

Retired Membership

If you are retired (full time) and an existing Chartered Fellow, you might be eligible for Retired Fellow Grade. Retired membership means you no longer have to complete CPD, can use the post-nominal letters FFOH (Ret) and still have access to membership benefits at a reduced cost. Contact the Membership Team for more information.
