LEV 2025 to highlight collaboration and competence in protecting workers from hazardous exposures

The British Occupational Hygiene Society will host its Annual Local Exhaust Ventilation Conference– LEV 2025: Healthy Air in the Workplace on 7 & 8 October 2025 in Birmingham. The theme for this year is “Collaboration”, bringing together business owners, system designers, installers, engineers, examiners, occupational hygienists, and duty holders to share knowledge, strengthen competence and raise awareness on LEV.

The two-day, in-person event will focus on collaboration and competence in the design, testing, and maintenance of LEV systems, a critical control in protecting workers from airborne hazardous substances.

Day One of the conference will focus on duty holders and business owners, with field-leading experts delivering accessible introductions to LEV principles, correct design and use, and what to expect from LEV professionals. Delegates will gain practical insights into how properly designed and maintained systems can protect workers and help employers meet their legal duties.

Day Two will provide a deeper dive for LEV and occupational hygiene professionals, with a technical programme covering system design, installation, commissioning, testing, and maintenance.

BOHS President Adrian Parris said:

“Too many workers are still suffering ill health and even losing their lives to preventable lung diseases. Local exhaust ventilation may not always be visible, but it is one of the most effective ways of protecting people from hazardous substances in the air they breathe at work. This conference is about bringing everyone together – from business leaders to technical specialists – to ensure workplaces across the UK can deliver healthy air and a healthier future.”

The conference is open to all those with an interest in occupational health and worker protection, whether directly involved in LEV or simply wanting to understand its importance.
