We are now looking for a Research Scientist to join our Exposure Assessment and Control (EAC) Team on a permanent, full-time basis. Part-time working hours are available for this role, for applicants who can commit to working a minimum of 30 hours per week.

The Role

As a Research Scientist, you will lead the development and delivery of a diverse range of applied research and other work in the field of noise exposure and control.

Collaborating with colleagues and external stakeholders, you’ll produce a portfolio of work on noise exposure and control in humans designed to meet the challenges of health risk management in workplaces.

You’ll lead other project teams, developing and managing laboratory and field-based activities, and apply your expertise in the other disciplines of the team, including occupational hygiene, aerosols, respiratory protection and ventilation.

Additionally, you will:

- Lead and develop the technical capacity and professional standing of the science of noise exposure and control
- Support the delivery of innovative research
- Present findings of research to HSE, industry stakeholders and scientific peers

About You

To be considered as a Research Scientist, you will need:

- Significant, relevant and recent practical experience of leading laboratory and workplace-based research on noise exposure
- Experience of including leading, motivating and managing other project team members
- Significant experience of initiating and developing projects from initial idea to final delivery
- Outstanding organisational and preparedness skills
- Good communication skills at all levels
- Degree (BSc/MSc) or equivalent in Physics or allied relevant scientific area
- A full, valid driving licence (however, we will consider any proposals put forward by applicants that would allow them to do the job by another means)
