The Position

We are currently seeking a highly knowledgeable individual with expertise in assessing and mitigating occupational health hazards in a wide variety of work environments. You will collaborate closely with clients to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and will provide expert guidance on the design and implementation of exposure controls. You will be experienced in management systems auditing and comfortable designing and delivering worker health training programmes.  If you are passionate about improving workplace health and possess strong analytical and communication skills, we invite you to join our dynamic team of professionals.

The successful candidate will be invited to join our 6-month onboarding programme, where you will learn the full Finch process: from how enquiries are dealt with to client visits, report writing and following up. During this time, you will have the support of a buddy and also a mentor to guide you through the process.

 

Profile

We are looking for an engaging Occupational Hygiene Consultant to join our community, based in the UK. We are particularly looking for a consultant with a strong ability to apply the relevant legislation and guidance from first principles in what could be a variety of familiar and unfamiliar workplace situations.  The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team, assisting with building our core competencies across multiple sectors.  The main responsibilities for this role will be to provide guidance on compliance with health and safety legislation and guidance to colleagues and clients and, following training to provide expert witness services to the court.

 

Key requirements

  • Must hold a Certificate of Operational Competence in Occupational Hygiene, and be a Licentiate of the Faculty of Occupational Hygiene.
  • Have at least 5 years’ experience working in industry.
  • Have a demonstrably in depth and expert knowledge of the application of health and safety legislation, guidance and pragmatism across a wide range of industries.
  • Have a demonstrable ability to use and examples of using that depth and knowledge in novel and challenging circumstances.
  • Have exceptional communication skills.
  • Have the ability to work as part of a team, or to lead it.
  • Have a strong ability to attract and develop new clients.
  • Have a strong ability to develop new work in specialist areas.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of H&S Law and regulatory guidance, its use and application.
  • Develop, support and enhance the growth of the health and safety capability within Finch.
