Certified Occupational Hygienist

Envirochem Analytical Laboratories Ltd

Welcome to Envirochem Analytical Laboratories

Envirochem Analytical Laboratories Ltd is an independent and dynamic organisation offering a comprehensive analytical and consultancy service covering a broad range of environmental and health & safety issues.  Since its establishment in 1989 in Southampton, it has offered a wide and diverse range of analytical and consultancy support services specialising in key areas such as asbestos, chemical analyses and bespoke environmental science services both in the laboratory and in the field.

Currently based in Fareham close to the historic City of Portsmouth, the company employs 55 personnel ranging from analytical chemists and microbiologists to environmental health scientists, technicians, and administrators.

As part of our ongoing plans, a new opportunity will arise for a full-time certified occupational hygienist.   The successful candidate will fulfil a key role in several significant areas involving both new development and continuous improvement of occupational hygiene programmes spanning physical, chemical, biological, and ergonomic challenge environments.  In addition, the candidate will be required to both lead and support the co-application of best-practice methodologies (i.e. HSE, BS/EN, NIOSH), as well as help drive training and continuing education initiatives and problem solving efforts within a team framework.

A dynamic and enthusiastic individual, you will both support and evolve relevant regulatory compliance programmes across the board to provide 360-degree compliance for all elements of the service provider / client interface. Looking forwards, you will also be involved with supporting other disciplines in achieving excellence and delivering high quality environmental and workplace health science services for clients.

Qualifications:  The preferred candidate must, as a minimum, hold a degree in a relevant science or applied science subject as well as the BOHS Certificate of Operational Competence in Occupational Hygiene (CertOH) and the Faculty Licentiate Grade (LFOH), as well as a successful participation track record in the BOHS CPD Scheme. Candidates should also have a minimum of 5 years relevant practical knowledge and experience including a comprehensive site/survey portfolio.

Location:  The role will be a blend of working at our premises in Fareham and working remotely from home or from site. In addition, the successful candidate will eventually be expected to go regularly into the field. Currently the role is limited to the UK, although it may involve some overseas opportunities at a future date.  Candidates must therefore be willing to travel routinely and be in possession of a suitable full UK driving licence.

Competitive salary commensurate with the role.
