The role of the annual conference committee is to provide BOHS with technical support in compiling and implementing the annual conference programme. The committee comprises BOHS members typically from a scientific, regulatory, consultancy or industrial background.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist in producing the call for papers identifying key topics of interest
  • Providing guidance on the programme content
  • Reviewing abstracts on technical content
  • Constructing a balanced programme
  • Identifying keynote speakers and session chairs
  • Contribute to the smooth running of the conference
  • Taking the role of conference chair in the third year
  • Undertaking a post conference review to ensure continuous improvement

Commitment

This is a three year role, in the final year you will act as conference committee chair and be part of the welcoming speeches. You will be required to attend two one day meetings a year which are usually held at the venue for the forthcoming conference or the BOHS office in Derby and Teams calls in between. In addition you will review abstracts, contact keynotes & chairs and supporting the head office conferences team. You will also support the running of the conference held in June.

Availability

You will need to be available for a one day meeting at the venue for the following year’s conference and a one day programme building meeting usually in December/January and then for conference calls to plan to wording for call for abstracts and to review the abstracts and build the programme.
