PROTECT COVID-19 Conference on Transmission and Environment

On 17-18 November 2021, researchers from across the PROTECT COVID-19 National Core Study on transmission and environment will come together in person for the programme’s first conference.

They will be joined at the Manchester International Conference Centre by policymakers and stakeholders to shape and engage with the latest science on how the COVID-19 virus transmits, and how to stop it.

For policymakers and stakeholders

Day two of the PROTECT COVID-19 Conference on transmission and environment will enable invited policymakers and stakeholders from across government and industry to engage directly with leading scientists on the latest transmission research, improving their understanding of how to apply the science to their own policy and operational challenges.

They will also have the opportunity to ensure our researchers understand these real-world challenges, feeding in their own evidence needs to help shape the research agenda.

This event will be taking place in a socially distanced manner, so places for in-person attendance are limited. However, conference sessions and presentations will also be livestreamed free and online for the benefit of all interested parties, including researchers, policymakers, businesses, and the broader public.

To register for free to attend the conference, either online or in person as an invited stakeholder, please visit the conference Eventbrite page for external attendees.

For PROTECT researchers

PROTECT researchers are invited to attend the full two days of the conference in person.

Day one will provide an important chance to exchange knowledge and ideas with other researchers, explore opportunities for inter-disciplinary collaboration and develop innovative research responses to the ongoing challenge of understanding and controlling transmission of the COVID-19 virus as the UK unlocks.

On day two, researchers will benefit from the opportunity to present and engage directly with policymakers and stakeholders to further develop their understanding of the challenges of managing virus transmission in current real-world scenarios, ensuring their research remains relevant, useful and impactful.

To register to attend the conference, PROTECT-funded researchers should visit the conference Eventbrite page for internal attendees
