We are now looking for a Scientist to join our Exposure Assessment and Control (EAC) Team on a permanent, full-time basis. Part-time working hours are available for this role, for applicants who can commit to working a minimum of 30 hours per week.

The Role
As a Scientist, you will specialise in human exposure to noise and vibration in the workplace in order to reduce the ill health that this causes.
Delivering a range of research projects and scientific support activities across our organisation, you will provide data and evidence on noise and vibration exposure in humans that underpins HSE’s guidance and regulation.
You will collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders, scientific peers and regulatory and policy professionals, as well as applying your knowledge in other technical areas that we work in. These may include health risk management such as aerosols, ventilation and RPE.
Travelling to sites across the UK for inspections and meetings, you will also attend conferences, ensuring that your specialist knowledge is up to date with developments in the scientific community.
About You
To be considered as a Scientist, you will need:
- Practical experience of carrying out assessment or research in the field of human exposure to noise and/or vibration. Experience within the workplace, environmental, product safety or other contexts will be considered.
- Experience of developing singular projects from initial idea to final delivery.
- The ability to work both as part of a multidisciplinary team and autonomously across boundaries.
- Experience of collating, managing, analysing and interpreting data, with attention to detail, quality and accuracy.
- The ability to present research findings and data to a wide and varied audience.
- Good communication skills enabling you to collaborate effectively, maintain & develop positive professional working relationships and engage with others at all levels, both within HSE and with external collaborators/stakeholders.
- Good organisational skills for planning, scheduling and undertaking a varied workload. Including the ability to work on multiple projects at any one time to maximise productivity and ensure delivery to time, cost and quality.
- Degree (BSc/MSc) in Physics or allied relevant scientific area.
- A full, valid driving licence (however, we will consider any proposals put forward by applicants that would allow them to do the job by another means)
