East Anglia
This region covers the East of England (Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire, but extending to Bedfordshire, Lincolnshire and north Essex). The group provides a focal point and network for BOHS members based in this part of the country. Social meetings are organised periodically to discuss topical matters and plan future events.
Previous successful meetings include changes to the COSHH Regulations, a one-day seminar entitled 'New Regulations for Old Problems - reducing the human cost of excessive exposure to occupational noise and vibration', and more recently hosted one of the asbestos roadshow events 'Managing Asbestos in Premises, the Survey Guide'.
Similar events are planned for the future. Close links are being developed with sister organisations in the region (eg. IOSH, Norwich and District Safety Group, FISHnet) and it’s hoped that joint seminars can be organised. Any forthcoming events in this region will be included in the Event Calendar, if you have an idea for an event or would like to support our Region then please get in touch, many of our regional meetings are free and all events can be booked on-line.
Andy Marshall is the Regional Organiser.

Group meeting 17/06/10
29 June 2010
Our small but
perfectly formed East Regional group met to discuss topics of
current interest that could develop into an Open technical Seminar.
From a number of previously attended events came the idea of "Risk
Communication and Risk Perception".
We further
considered a day that would consist of a mix of presentation, panel
Q&A (BBC question time style) and question and answer session;
using multi-media tools to keep the format fresh. Our common aim is
to involve other local organisations, as co-hosts or invited
speakers; these groups would be identified and contact in due
course
Topics being
consider include: New CLP
regulations and their impact on existing
legislation Risk
perception (risk = hazard + outrage) Relevant case
studies Risk
communication
We shall meet
again shortly to further develop these ideas. Any one who
would like to join us for an informal meeting (pub then food), or
has ideas to put forward will be made most
welcome.
