Refreshers in Asbestos

With the ever-changing legislative requirements in the field of asbestos, it can be increasingly difficult for practitioners to keep themselves up-to-date with the latest developments.  In addition some of the newer regulations contain specific requirements for regular re-training.

With this in mind, three new examinations are now available, each associated with a refresher course in some aspect of asbestos management, with links to each syllabus from the Module numbers below:

P402R T1+T2

Buildings Surveys and Bulk Sampling for Asbestos (including Risk Assessment and Risk Management Strategies) for Type 1 and Type 2 surveys

P402R T3

Buildings Surveys and Bulk Sampling for Asbestos (including Risk Assessment and Risk Management Strategies) for Type 3 surveys

P406R

Supervision and Management of the Safe Removal and Disposal of Asbestos

The examinations consist of 25 questions requiring short (eg. one to two line) answers. To achieve a pass, it will be necessary to obtain 55% in the examination.  Each question is worth a total of four marks; no marks will be deducted if a wrong answer is given; marks are neither gained nor lost if the question is not answered.

Future plans include the development of more new examinations along the same lines, starting with the Management of Asbestos in Buildings (P405) and the Certificate of Competence in Asbestos and Other Fibres, details of which will be announced as they become available.
