Health Services
The Health Services Technical Topic Group exists to provide a forum for hygiene problems in the health service. It is open to anyone with an interest. In addition to the provision of a forum, which is of primary benefit to those attending the meetings, it also aims to make its collective knowledge and experience available to the wider health services through the production of guidance notes. These are short (usually one page) summaries of problems and the members’ view of best solutions. They are intended to help practitioners and managers in the health service achieve the right approach to common threats to the well-being of health service workers and patients. The current set of guidance notes is freely available on the website in the dowlands box on this page. The guidance notes have been produced by practitioners in the field to assist competent persons with similar problems of risk assessment and control. These may be produced freely for internal use. Please acknowledge BOHS Health Services Topic Group as the source.
The meetings, twice a year, are to enable face-to-face discussion of current issues and to finalise drafts of guidance notes. We are presently developing the potential for more frequent interchange by e-mail, which should reduce the dependence on the twice-yearly meetings for exchanging information.
Anyone who is interested in this topic and feels they may have something to contribute to the running of the Group should contact the Chair.
The Chair is Diana Johnston. She can be contacted by e-mail on:
