Institute of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (IOEM)
The Institute Occupational and Environmental Medicine at the University of Birmingham has provided National and International training, research and consultancy services in Occupational Health and Industrial Hygiene for over 20 years. The main areas of training include MSc/PGD in Occupational Health which is recognised by IOSH and BOHS. Professional short CPD courses include: Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVs), Occupational Ergonomics, Occupational Mental Health, Contact Dermatitis, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). The department also runs a two week Diploma in Occupational Medicine for doctors which are approved by the Faculty of Occupational Medicine (FOM), London. The IOEM also provides • In-house practical training for occupational health practitioners • International training courses • Evaluations of workplace health surveillance programmes • Advice on the development and evaluation of workplace interventions.
Department staff are Member/Fellow of the following organisation: Faculty of Occupational Medicine, Society of Occupational Medicine (SOM), Institution of Safety and Health (IOSH).
