South Wales and South West Regional Meeting - Asbestos and MMMF

Asbestos Update and recent Developments in Control of Man Made Mineral Fibres (MMMF)

The Control of Asbestos Regulations (CAR) were revised in April 2012.  This session will include the changes and reasons for the changes to CAR 2006, an understanding of the “process” to establish if “non-licensed” work is notifiable and an awareness of who is affected by the changes to the Regulations.  It will also discuss the new soffit board guidance and the client’s understanding of the survey guide (HSG 264).

Hazards associated with  man made mineral fibres ( MMMF) have received much attention over the last two decades, and progress has been achieved in efforts to better understand the mechanisms of action by which these substances may act in lung tissue.  This session will discuss the trends in exposure limits and measurement.

We are delighted that Mr Bill Sanderson has agreed to provide a presentation on an asbestos update.  The speaker for the MMMF presentation will be announced.
