South West and South Wales - Surface Sampling and the Interpretation of the Results

Tuesday, February 21, 2012

Start: 16:00
Finish: 18:30

Contamination of surfaces and the skin with hazardous substances can be a significant element of exposure and shouldn’t be overlooked in risk assessment.Quantifying surface / skin contamination and interpreting the results in a meaningful way remains a problematic area of occupational hygiene.
This session will include demonstration of techniques and products available for assessing surface / skin contamination for a wide range of substances eg; wipe sampling, real time instruments, skin pads etc. The advantages and disadvantages of the various techniques will be discussed.
Case studies will also be used to illustrate the points discussed.
We are delighted that Mr Keith Emery of SKC Ltd has agreed to demonstrate the range of surface / skin sampling products available from SKC.  Mr Kelvin Williams, occupational hygiene consultant has also agreed to provide a presentation, including case studies, on the above issues.
