The Society’s Head Office is led by a Chief Executive who is directly accountable to Council, with a senior management team responsible for finance and operations, membership services, conferences and events, publications, examinations management, marketing and communications, and overall business management and administrative services.
Senior Management Team
Steve Perkins, Chief Executive. Steve has been Chief Executive since March 2009. He originally trained as a physicist, gaining a first degree from Oxford University and beginning his career at Rolls-Royce Aerospace in 1987 working in aero-acoustics research, where he became a company specialist. Whilst with RR he went on to work in Project Management, IT and Business Improvement. In 2002 he moved into the voluntary sector EMCF Ltd, one of Derby’s largest faith-based charities. He served as a Company Director and worked in a number of roles covering operations, management, people development and strategy planning.
Sandi Atkinson, Membership Services Manager. Sandi has been with BOHS since December 2008, having previously been the Professional Development Officer for IGEM, the Institution of Gas Engineers and Managers. Her first membership role was in 1997 when she worked in the Membership Department of the Medical and Dental Defence Union of Scotland, her first job in the not-for-profit sector where she has remained ever since.
Anthea Page, Examinations & Communications Manager. Anthea joined BOHS in September 2003, first as Communications Manager and, since September 2009, as Examinations & Communications Manager. She has a first degree in French and Business Studies from the University of Sheffield. Anthea worked for six years within a leading business communications and advertising agency, ultimately in a strategic planning role, and then for nine years as a consultant and freelance trade press journalist.
Clare Whiting, Finance & Operations Manager. Clare has worked for BOHS since March 2011. She trained as a Chartered Management Accountant at Denby Pottery before taking time out to have a family and work part-time in various industries as the company accountant, including: wedding stationary and packaging, scrap metal and recycling, before working full time again for a computer software developer in Derby. Most successfully Clare was part of the winning team in the 2007 Derbyshire Business and Exporter of the Year Awards whilst at Golddigga, a Derby based womens’ fashion design/wholesaler. More recently Clare was Finance and Commercial Manager for the University of Derby Students’ Union.
