Associate Member (AFOH) Grade

Associate membership of BOHS is the first step for those wishing to gain professional recognition as an Occupational Hygienist.

As an Associate Member (AFOH) of the Faculty of Occupational Hygiene you will be recognised as having made the commitment to progress your career. You will be working towards gaining the BOHS Certificate of Operational Competence in Occupational Hygiene which entitles you to become registered as a Licentiate Member (LFOH) of the Faculty. Alternatively you will have chosen to specialise in an area of Occupational Hygiene.

With the support of the Society in the form of volunteer members who will act as mentors you will be given guidance and help with your professional development to reach your goals.

During that time you will also take part in the Faculty’sContinuing Professional Development Scheme online and submit your portfolio of achievement at the end of each year.

In order to be eligible for this grade of membership you must have successfully completed at least one of the Occupational Hygiene Modules, hold a BOHS approved first or postgraduate degree in occupational hygiene or alternatively the Basic Principles of Occupational Hygiene introductory course. You will find full details of these qualifications on our website by visiting the education section of this site. Here you will also find more information on the Certificate of Operational Competence in Occupational Hygiene and the Faculty.
